MRS. SHIRLEY JAYAWARDANE
Operations Director
Mrs. Shirley Jayawardane is the Operations Director of Global Vision
Center for Knowledge Advancement. She is the Managing Director of
Media Vision (Pvt) Ltd that publishes Sri Lanka’s oldest regional
newspaper, The Kandy News and also serves as its Managing Editor.
She is also a senior businesswoman and company director. She is
a Director of Agritec Enterprises (Pvt) Ltd that is engaged in a
variety of agri-businesses and marketing of agricultural inputs.
Mrs. Jayawardane is the President (2009-10) of the Central Province
Women’s Chamber of Small Industry and Commerce. She has served
as a member of the Board of Directors of the Chamber of Commerce
and Industry Central Province for a long period of time. She is
also a member of the Board of Directors of Business for Peace Alliance
Sri Lanka and a Council Member of the Federation of Commerce and
Industries Sri Lanka. She is a Member of the Institute of Management
of Great Britain. Mrs. Jayawardane is also a social worker and holds
the position of Governor’s Program Coordinator Lions International
District 306C1. She is a member of the Peradeniya Teaching Hospital
Committee. She also served as a Director of the Indo-Sri Lanka Cultural
Association for several years and on the Governing Board of the
Post-Graduate Institute of Science at Peradeniya University. She
has traveled abroad extensively. In 1999 she toured the US as an
official guest of the United States Department of State. She is
also a committee member of the Kandy Municipal Council-Kandy Business
Community Public-Private Dialogue.
She also serves as the Assistant Secretary of the Joint Alliance
of the Central Provincial Council and the Central Province Business
Leaders.
