Dr. RAJEEWA S JAYASINGHE

Rajeewa Suresh Jayasinghe is a Research Fellow at GV. He read for
his junior and senior high at Trinity College Kandy, Sri Lanka.
He obtained the highest aggregate for the Humanities and Social
Sciences at his College and was selected to the University of Peradeniya,
Sri Lanka to read for an Honours Degree in History in 1987. He obtained
a First Class in History (Summa Cum Laude) in 1992 and was recruited
to the Department of History of the University of Peradeniya in
1993. In 1996, he was selected for a Fulbright Scholarship to the
University of Texas at Austin to read for an MA in History at the
Department of Asian Studies. Having returned in mid 1998 with an
MA from the United States, he was again selected on a SAARC Scholarship
to pursue his Doctoral Studies at the Jawaharlal Nehru University
in 2000. He returned to the University of Peradeniya in mid 2003
with a Ph.D. in History and since then has been teaching courses
in Sri Lankan History, European History, Indian History and Colonialism.
He is also engaged in a programme that teaches and assists American
College students in the Intercollegiate Sri Lanka Education (ISLE)
Programme affiliated with the University of Peradeniya. He is also
involved in teaching American undergraduates American History, National
Government and International Relations at the American College of
Higher Education that is affiliated to some universities in the
United States. Since of late he is involved in consultancies with
Transparency International (TI) Colombo, Sri Lanka and the Open
University of Sri Lanka.
