Harindra Dunuwille is senior Attorney-at-Law in Kandy with a civil
law practice that has spanned over twenty five years. He served
as President of the Kandy Bar Association and also as the Vice President
of the Bar Association of Sri Lanka. He was member of Sri Lanka’s
seventh parliament (1989-94) during which period he served Deputy
Minister of State for Constitutional Affairs. He started his political
career as a member of the Kandy Municipal Council and served as
the Mayor of Kandy for two consecutive terms. During his tenure
as Mayor he was also elected Chairman of the Sri Lanka Mayors Forum.
He has served as a Consultant on Local Government and Devolution
at the International centre for Ethnic Studies. At the Sri Lanka
Law College from which he obtained his professional law degree he
served as the President of the Students Union. He is a former member
of the Peradeniya university Governing Council. He currently serves
as a member of the Bar Council of the Sri Lanka Bar Association
and as an executive committee member of the Organisation of Professionals
of Kandy.
