Brenda Barrett

Ms. Brenda Barrett (Ph.D. (ABD) International Development, Tulane
University) is currently the Chief of Party for Education Development
Center, Inc. which implements the USAID Prepara Ami ba Servisu (PAS)
Program in Timor Leste. Ms. Barrett has previously worked for USAID
development contractors ARD, Inc. and Development Alternatives Incorporated,
in addition to working for USAID/DCHA Bureau in the Office of Transition
Initiatives in Washington, DC.
Ms. Barrett has been the press and media spokesperson for UNHCR
in Sri Lanka, the Regional Program Manager for the USAID Transition
Initiatives program in Sri Lanka, a Program Manager and Transition
Advisor for USAID projects in West Bank and Gaza, Lebanon and Iraq.
Ms. Barrett was a research associate at the International Centre
for Ethnic Studies until 2007 and has recently joined the not-for-profit
Sri Lankan think tank Global Vision – Centre for Knowledge
Advancement, Sri Lanka. Ms. Barrett has been a speaker and guest
lecturer at a number of universities and think tanks around the
world focusing on disasters and conflict.
