A. R. M. Imtiyaz
Research Fellow
Dr. A.R.M.Imtiyaz have been actively engaged in research, wrting
and college teaching since 1994, both in and outside of the United
States. He is currently attached to Temple Univeresity, Philadelphia.
At Temple his research and teaching is mainly focused on ethnic
poltics. His research on Sri Lanka covers two major aspects —
the symbolic politics of elites and politicization of ethnic differences.
Dr. Imtiyaz’ most recent research examines issues pertaining
to Muslims in Sri Lanka and Xinjian Province, China. Over the next
few years he intends to focus on research that will focus more fully
on Muslims in South Asia and China. He has published widely in peer-reviwed
international journals including the Journal of Asian and African
Studies (JAAS), Journal of Third World Studies, and Asian Affaris
(Hongkong)
He was a lecturer in Political Science in the South Eastern University
of Sri Lanka. He currently teaches courses on Ethnic Conflict and
on Foreign Government and Politics at the Department of Political
Science, Temple University, Philadelphia, USA. He is fully proficient
in English and Tamil, proficient in Mandarin Chinese and Sinhala,
and has a working knowledge of Arabic.
